Pregnancy Q & A

➀ Why is it important to see a doctor while I’m pregnant?

During your 40 weeks of pregnancy, not only does a new human being develop and grow inside of you but your body changes to accommodate new life. Regular and routine appointments with Dr. Trieu allow him to monitor both your health and the development of your baby.

Regular appointments allow Dr. Trieu to ensure that your baby is growing at the appropriate rate and that prenatal milestones are met. He offers in-office ultrasounds to see your baby and to monitor its development.

These appointments are also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions about your pregnancy. You'll go through a lot of changes, physically and hormonally, and even if this isn't your first pregnancy, you may experience something new and want to discuss it with a skilled medical professional.

➁ How often do I need to see a doctor while I’m pregnant?

You will need to attend regular appointments throughout your pregnancy. For the first 28 weeks, you'll go once a month. Then you'll go every other week until you reach week 36. Dr. Trieu only provides prenatal care until 35-36 weeks gestation. The delivery will be performed by a hospitalist obstetrician.

At certain points during your pregnancy, you'll have appointments for ultrasounds and for tests for common health concerns like gestational diabetes.

➂ What happens at a prenatal appointment?

At your prenatal appointments, Dr. Trieu checks your blood pressure and your weight. He’ll measure the circumference of your stomach. He checks the fetal heart rate and development. These regular appointments ensure that if any issues arise, they are identified and diagnosed early so that prompt action can be taken to ensure your health and the health of your baby.

Dr. Trieu offers in-office lab services so that you don’t have to travel all over the city to get blood work done, for example, to confirm your pregnancy or test for gestational diabetes. You can also have your ultrasounds done in-office. Dr. Trieu offers both 2D and 3D ultrasounds so that you can get a good first look at your baby.

If you’re looking for a reliable doctor with comprehensive in-house services, call us at 434-572-8921 or book an appointment online today.
